Fashion Week Wrap Up, Cover Ups & Wed Nups!

Just look up!  Or even down the street.  Urbanscapes and architecture were the inspirations in the evening gown collection of Karen Sabag and the sportswear collection by Jaqueline Rank and Gabrielle Morales of Stem Designs.
Karen Sabag introduced her Spring 2010 eveningwear collection. Karen draws her inspiration from the streetscapes of Barcelona. She has definitely captured the elegance and brilliance of the marble and stones in the street.   Of her collection, Karen said, “My gowns this season are sexy and fun yet elegant at the same time.” One would be hard pressed to disagree with her.  The collection, while capturing the essence of Barcelona, would make any woman feel like they were actually walking the red carpet at the Oscars.

Karen Sabag uses only the finest fabrics in her designs.  Gowns in her collection are made of 100% Italian and French Solstice lace, are intricately worked with crochet, embroideries, and embellishments of fine hand beading, many of which are adorned with Swarovski crystals, pearls and delicately intertwined metallic silver or gold threads. A signature of Karen Sabag’s bridal gown, hand worked corsetry, adds a glamorous sultry component to a woman’s body by putting emphasis in the right places.   In October she will unveil her 2010 Bridal Collection at The Intercontinental Hotel as one of the participants in The Wedding Channel Bridal Couture Show.

Designers Jaqueline Rank and Gabrielle Morales of Stem Designs introduced their Spring 2010 sportswear collection of swimwear and cover-ups as part of Breakout Designers in a Series.  The collection of swimwear and cover-ups, inspired by The Mountain Dwellings in Copenhagen, Denmark, reflects the shifting colors, shapes, and lines of this architectural masterpiece.  The impressive collection, presented as part of an interactive fashion show, photo shoot and silent auction, attracted the attention of a diverse group of fashionistas which included mode spécialiste, J. Alexander from America’s Next Top Model and Ron Zacchi, Executive Director of Marriage Equality New York (MENY).

The silent auction benefited MENY, a grassroots organization comprised of volunteers who devote their efforts to achieving marriage equality, under the leadership of Ron Zacchi.  “Bonnie Bien, of LA Presse PR, put together a great show of emerging artists for fashion week.”  Mr. Zacchi goes on to say, “MENY is honored to be chosen as the sole beneficiary of all proceeds from the event’s silent auction. With the upcoming 6th Annual Wedding March taking place in DC, these funds will help us bring New Yorkers to our country’s capital in support of marriage equality.”  As one of the most liberal states in the country, New York is still trying to pass a law that enables same sex marriage.
