Meet Macy - The Lovely Hostess of Re/Dress NYC

I went to one of my favorite stores this weekend - Re/Dress NYC. This is a vintage & resale curvy clothing boutique in Brooklyn's Boerum Hill.
I went shopping for something to wear to a dear friend's wedding and ended up leaving with the greatest suit ever. If you are a curvy gal on a budget, this is the place for you. This, however, was not the highlight of my shopping excursion.
When I entered the store, I was greeted by Macy - the cutest, sweetest little hostess ever.

This morning I logged on to LinkedIn and discovered that I may actually know Ernest Hemingway, Sherlock Holmes and...Groucho Marx?
Are you impressed? You should be. I mean anyone who may have a connection to any of these folks is worthy of your admiration. I wasn't surprised because I figured I was receiving these recommendations based upon my connections to Erma Bombeck, Erté, and Orson Welles. Lo and behold, it turns out that LinkedIn was playing a joke on me. Well played LinkedIn...well played..April Fools!!!!

As you all know I am a fanatic of the QR codes and can't believe it is taking so long for them to really catch on in the publishing industry. More specifically with advertising. So, let me take you to my happy place - sort of.
I was on the train the other day and had been trying to avoid the piercing gaze of some chick in the next bank of seats to my left and across from me. Of course in trying to avoid her gaze she kept catching me gazing at her...I still can't figure this one out. During one of these gaze-avoidance exercises I noticed the loveliest poster behind the head of another passenger. It was a large, QR code on a poster...but I couldn't tell what it was for at first...until I noticed the banners overhead - since they are usually all for the same advertisers. Turns out that JetBlue's current campaign is advertising a contest to "Win a St. Pete/Clearwater Beach Escape...". I am so game, especially since there is a QR code attached...I can now use my scanner FOR REAL. Now here is the dilemma.

If you watch TV you must have seen some of those commercials for Kellogg's Frosted Mini-Wheats. I must admit, I have never eaten Frosted Mini Wheats, likely because in my house it would have been just the Mini-Wheats...sans the frosting. But I really LOVE those commercials. How cute that they personified the mini wheats into these cute little "guys"? Characters we can really relate to ...so much that one little boy actually blows on the milk "cooling it down". I am clearly not the only one either, because Kellogg actually has an entire "theatre" dedicated to the little guys - Mini-Wheats Theatre. It's non-stop Frosted Mini-Wheats commercials starring the "cute little guys".

It's The Little Things
Image via WikipediaI have been under the weather the last week and a half, recuperating from some surgery and stuff. In the last day I was finally able to sit up comfortably and do some stuff. I had mentioned to my husband awhile back, that I wanted to buy a coloring book and crayons because I have just felt like coloring...but we never bought it.
Yesterday, I was able to go out with my husband and while we were in the drug store, I wondered into the children's section. There were the coloring books and crayons. The first thing that caught my eye were some very large coloring books which immediately excited me however, the ones I saw had cartoon characters I couldn't really relate to.
